You'll Never Believe It...

I got halfway to the library for Storytime and realized I had forgotten my camera! So no cute pictures from Storytime today. Mrs. Dorothy read two books, The Berenstein Bears Learn to Share, and a Winnie-the-Pooh book. The girls were not at all interested in the books Mrs. Dorothy was reading. Bella ended up going to the tables and putting a puzzle together and Brooklyn just roamed all around the room!
Nothing new to report....

Storytime

YAY - Storytime is finally back in session after what seemed like a long break over the holidays! Today Mrs. Dorothy read Strawberry Shortcake and Show and Tell (I don't think that is the actual title but that sums up the book) and I'm a Little Teapot. Then of course, songs were sung and dances were danced! Here are today's photos! In this first picture of Brooklyn - she had actually climbed up onto the bench by herself to sit and listen to Mrs. Dorothy read the story (of course, she didn't stay there all that long, but it was cute)!

It's a Storytime Christmas

Thursday was our Storytime Christmas party! Ms.Dorothy read one book - The Christmas Story -a wonderful book for children with the prettiest illustrations! Then we sang some songs, sang Happy Birthday to Hunter (who will celebrate his birthday while we are on "break") and then it was party time!

Ms. Dorothy made everyone Jingle Bell necklaces to ring when we sang Jingle Bells! Here the girls are "ringing" their bells!
Here are a few shots from the "party" after Ms. Dorothy read the story and we sang songs. Sorry the picture is so dark!

An attempt at a picture of all of us! HAHA!!
Now we are on break from Storytime from now until January 10th!!!! We might have to visit the library just to go during that time!

Storytime

Today was our weekly trip to the library for Storytime with Ms. Dorothy! All the kids were very antsy today - no one wanting to sit still for the story. Ms. Dorothy has the patience of a saint! Today we read two Christmas books - Biscuit's Christmas and Where is Christmas, Jesse Bear. Then of course they sang lots of songs, got their lollipop or candy cane and their coloring sheet! I didn't get any pictures because Brooklyn was all over the place - plus it would have been the same pictures from previous weeks!

Brooklyn during Storytime

Brooklyn didn't want to sit still for the Stories today and one of the tables still had some puzzles on it and she went straight for the table!

Storytime

This was Tree Decorating day at Storytime at the Library! After Ms. Dorothy read two stories (Once There Was a Christmas Tree and The Little Christmas Tree), we sang Jingle Bells and headed over to decorate the tree!

Last Week's Storytime

This past week's Storytime was quite exciting! As we do every week, we looked for a few books and checked out two books about Biscuit as Bella loves puppy dogs! Ms. Dorothy asked us the previous week to bring a "friend" to Storytime to read to. So Bella picked out one of her puppy dogs (not THE puppy dog from when she was younger) and we took along a puppy dog for Brooklyn as well. When it was time for Ms. Dorothy to read the stories, she unveiled a campfire for us to sit around while we read!! The kids loved it! She read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?" and "Biscuit is Thankful".

After Ms. Dorothy had finished reading the two books, the other lady who helps with Storytime (and I'm so sorry I don't know her name, I will have to be sure to ask her next week) came into the room (we had Storytime in the room with the "stage") with Marshmellows for roasting! It was too cute - they were on sticks, aka candy canes! The kids had a blast "roasting" their marshmellows over the campfire! One little girl said that hers wouldn't roast! She's obviously roasted marshmellows before.

Brooklyn inquiring as to what is going on around that fire!

After roasting marshmellows for a bit, everyone sang a few songs and danced around before it was time to "line up" and get the day's coloring sheet and lollipop (even though they'd just had candy canes)!!

This Week's Storytime

Well, there was supposed to be a special guest, Scrubby the Bear, at Storytime today, but apparently he was sick! From what I overheard, Scrubby is from the Red Cross and talks to the kids about washing their hands and such. Today, Ms. Dorothy read two books: "The Three Little Pigs" and "Old MacDonald Had a Farm"! There were actually quite a few kids there today! It is fun because we are starting to recognize people (well, I am) and it just makes this feel more like home. After the stories, they sang songs and then lined up to get their lollipop and coloring sheet!

Bella singing "Where is Thumbkin"? She really likes this song - we need to work on her knowing which finger is which...She loves to make them "run and hide".

This Week's Storytime

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, at Storytime this week they had a Fall Party, of sorts. We had regular Storytime where Ms. Dorothy read two books - The Tortoise and the Hare and The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog. Then after the stories they sang a few songs - the Alphabet song, the Itsy Bitsy Spider, and the Hokey Pokey! Even Brooklyn joined in on the singing and dancing!

After singing the Hokey Pokey, the games began! First, they brought out Hoola Hoops. The object was to form a line (haha - yeah right!) and first you walked through the two Hoola Hoops and then on your second turn (after going to the back of the line (again, haha - yeah right), you were to crawl through!

After everyone walked and crawled through the Hoola Hoops, everyone headed for the larger common area of the library (the entire upstairs is devoted to children's books)! Here they had four other games set up! The fourth game they had set up was a little basketball net; however I did not have the camera ready when she stole the ball and made her slam dunk! So no photos of the basketball shot!

The ever popular ring the soda bottle game! Bella would simply walk up and place the ring around the soda bottle!

Going Fishing! This was very cute - it was a kiddie pool with cut out fish (construction paper) and each fish had staples and paper clips on them and the little fishing poles had magnets at the end of the line!

The Pumpkin Toss! She had actually tossed the little bean bag through the hole and was looking to see where it had gone!

More Hoola Hoop fun! Just "free play" with the Hoola Hoops before making our departure!

After leaving the Library, we went to Pizza Hut for lunch, to see G-Ma Woods (Brannon's Grandmother) and a quick stop by the grocery store!

Story Time Aftermath....

On the way home from Story Time, lunch and the grocery store, both Bella and Brooklyn fell asleep in their carseats! At this very moment they are both napping in their beds peacefully (at the same time - YAY!!!)

Today's Photos

It's Thursday, so that means it is Story Time at the library. There were not very many kids (only 5 kids) at Story Time this week, I'm assuming this is due in part to the stormy weather we are having. Today's stories were "Caps for Sale" and "Five Little Monkeys"! Then they sang a few songs and of course, got a lollipop and coloring sheet!

Afterwards, we went and ate lunch and ran by the grocery store for a few items!

Brooklyn makes the local newspaper

As I mentioned in a post last week, Storytime at the Library was about Fire Safety Week, complete with a visit from the Atmore Fire Department and Sparky the Firedog! The Atmore News was also there taking notes and pictures! After the presentation and movie, Sparky posed for a picture with some of the kids (most, including Bella, wouldn't get in the picture)!

The article taken from the Wednesday, October 16, 2007 edition (Volume 3, Issue 19) of the Atmore News read as follows:

"Little ones at the Atmore Public Library Wee Ones' Story Time enjoyed a visit from the Atmore Fire Department and Sparky the Fire Dog for National Fire Safety and Education Week. Standing beside Sparky on the left is Caeden Battles, Elora Pierce and Arden Pierce. On Sparky's right side are, from front to back, Zander Crawford, Hunter Smith and Reid Pierce. Sitting on the floor are Brooklyn Parmer and Montana Carnley. Behind Sparky and the children are Ronald Peebles, Eugene Edwards and Jeremy Lee from the Atmore Fire Department."

This Week's Storytime

This week is Fire Safety and Prevention Week! For Storytime at the Library, there were firefighters who came to speak to the kids about what to do in the event of a fire! They had one firefighter who did most of the talking - mainly just taught the kids the "Stop, Drop, and Roll", to call 911 if there is a fire, that firefighters are there to help you, and that every family should have a Fire Escape Plan for their own home. Another firefighter actually demonstrated the "Stop, Drop and Roll" technique and another firefighter was dressed in all the fire fighting gear (which I think sort of scared most of the children)! After the "lecture", the kids got to watch a movie with Sparky the Firedog! Then Sparky himself made a guest appearance (again, which scared most of the children)! Bella did not want to go near the firefighter in all his gear or Sparky the Firedog! Brooklyn did make it into a picture (which should be in the newspaper in the next couple of days) - although I don't think she was looking at the camera! Afterwards, they all got a coloring book and best of all Fire Chief Hats - which I will try to get a picture of later today!

When we were leaving, we noticed that they did drive the big Fire Trucks to the library, so we had to have a look. Although - Bella wouldn't get very close nor would she sit behind the wheel! I was trying to get a picture of them next to, or at least near, the fire truck - but the pictures in this post were all I was able to get!

Today's Cute Pictures

The girls and I went to the library today for Story Time. They have it every Thursday at our library. This was our first time to go. It was fun for the girls - they have "free" time for about 1/2 hour and then a lady reads two stories and then they all sing songs! I was trying to get a cute picture of the girls before we left, but Brooklyn didn't want to sit for the picture and neither wanted to look at the camera. Here are my attempts!

This is from Story Time at the library. They were singing "If You're Happy and You Know It"...
