This Week's Storytime

This week is Fire Safety and Prevention Week! For Storytime at the Library, there were firefighters who came to speak to the kids about what to do in the event of a fire! They had one firefighter who did most of the talking - mainly just taught the kids the "Stop, Drop, and Roll", to call 911 if there is a fire, that firefighters are there to help you, and that every family should have a Fire Escape Plan for their own home. Another firefighter actually demonstrated the "Stop, Drop and Roll" technique and another firefighter was dressed in all the fire fighting gear (which I think sort of scared most of the children)! After the "lecture", the kids got to watch a movie with Sparky the Firedog! Then Sparky himself made a guest appearance (again, which scared most of the children)! Bella did not want to go near the firefighter in all his gear or Sparky the Firedog! Brooklyn did make it into a picture (which should be in the newspaper in the next couple of days) - although I don't think she was looking at the camera! Afterwards, they all got a coloring book and best of all Fire Chief Hats - which I will try to get a picture of later today!

When we were leaving, we noticed that they did drive the big Fire Trucks to the library, so we had to have a look. Although - Bella wouldn't get very close nor would she sit behind the wheel! I was trying to get a picture of them next to, or at least near, the fire truck - but the pictures in this post were all I was able to get!
